Project Concept

The office is located in Penang, Malaysia with a total of 13,000 sq.ft. built-up area. The office’s concept is based on a single Chinese character ‘‘ that meaning ‘sky’. The Chinese character is broken down into two parts; ‘‘ indicates big and ‘‘ indicates one. For the occupants, we want to create a spacious and tranquil environment. Occupants spend 70% to 80% of their time indoors, and nearly 9 hours a day at work. The occupants’ comfort, health, and productivity are all affected by the office’s environmental quality in both the short and long term. Hence, we rely on Biophilic Design patterns like maximising the daylighting and using natural representational features such as timber texture, stone texture, and scenic view.

The Director of the KOK Construction company always emphasises connection and sharing. Therefore, glass elements are being introduced. Furthermore, their work ethic necessitates an unobstructed top for reading and sketching on enormous building drawings, therefore custom meeting/conference tables without M&E fittings are essential aspects. The white vertical timber stripes used to create their company logo convey a feeling of strength and dignity while giving a tranquil welcoming sense to those entering the office environment.
