The existing space no window and only has a glass main door which facing to the main road with minimal daylighting. Hence, this time we choose to nature representation, a courtyard. We selected colourful heritage floor tiles to represent local heritage shophouses cultural. The colourful geometries of the floor tiles mimicking flowers blossom in the garden. Red colour element is the focus point in the main entrance as Chinese culture, red colour symbolising luck, joy, happiness, vitality, and ward off evil. That’s why if you look traditional Chinese wedding, Chinese ‘ang pao’, Chinese New Year, and opening ceremony in red colour as main focus point. Nevertheless, we use cups and bowls as the decoration in the main entrance to symbolize water contain as Chinese culture belief water element means fortune to business.
Besides, we selected timber feature divider to create semi-private to customers. The design of the timber feature is semi seeing through to ensure the space remain the spacious feeling.
In addition, we proposed a round scenery frame to mimic Chinese round window element on the left side wall. Another side wall we proposed using a round wall light represent the sunlight or moon in the woody forest (customer’s imagination).
